My fiancee and I are wondering how much to spend on gifts for our parents. Her father is paying for most of the wedding...should we spend more on him, or should the parents be given similar presents.

My boyfriend and I are going to an engagement party for a couple this weekend. The couple is very close to us, and neither of us are closer to one person than the other. For this event, what kind of gifts are traditional to bring? A bottle of wine won't be enough. Also, the couple already lives together.
