Anyone who has complained doesn’t need a gift. If someone mentions it just say "Oh, you are so particular that it just makes you unhappy, so I don’t want to put you through it." I recently said that to someone after she told me she was worried she might receive ugly clothes at her baby shower.
If you are oblligated to give something to someone, it isn’t a gift anymore and you don’t have to play.
.
personally, i really find giving gifts that are handmade really sweet. it means the person who gave it to you really gave such effort. it’s the thought that counts. most people just go to a shop and buy something and not really feeling the essence of giving the gifts that they are giving.
First of all, I think handmade gifts are the best(but then again I’m a mom who receives them from my kids all the time) When you take time out to make a gift you really put your heart into it. You have been blessed with a talent and should continue to express it, regardless of how unappreciative, and insensitive others can be.
I have several things that I were made by my Mom that I treasure now that she is gone. I often give handcrafted gifts and if the recipient doesn’t like it well too bad.
It is the very best gift of all to think someone took their time
to make a gift especially for me! Time is the most valuable thing we have.
The relatives are not thinking how nice it was you took yours to make them a beautiful gift. They are only thinking of themselves; ignore them. They don’t deserve a special gift.
Give them something from the dollar store instead!
Some people are just too materialistic to appreciate such gifts. I have only pity for those people. Since they don’t appreciate your time and
talent just give them gifts from the dollar stores.
I think it’s the greatest thing ever. Especially since when one gives them away at a function like a Bingo game or to a place like St Jude Children’s Hospital. Anyone who doesn’t enjoy them don’t know what they’re missing.
I love being given handmade gifts. It means that the giver really thought about me and cared enough to spend time on me.
Even if it’s something that turns out crappy, I think it’s special to get something handmade.
I also give lots of handmade things. I know what you mean though; some people value spending a bunch of money over spending thought and time on them. I just follow my values and continue to give handmade things.
I love handmade gifts, it shows the person took time to think about, indtead of picking up a gift right before seeing you. If someone id mad at you for giving them a handmade gift then stop giving them any type of gift, they sound ungrateful and you should not waste your time or talent on people like that
I think that giving a handmade gift shows that you’ve thought about that person and that you care enough to add a personal touch. That being said, I think handmade gifts should be tailored to the person you’re giving it to. I would hesitate if you are making the same gift for a bunch of people. There is nothing wrong with that if it is something that anyone could use or appreciate, but you need to consider the different people you are giving it too. For example, if you made some dog figurines and gave them to everyone at Christmas – while some people might love them, maybe some people don’t like dogs or aren’t figurine type people. Personally I think a home-made gift is one of the best gifts you can get!

I like it… if it’s something I’m interested in or have use for.
I used to give a number of paintings to family, and also used to give customized models to friends.
If they act like it was a slap in the face, cross them off your list.

I love handmade gifts! They came from the heart in the truest form.
