Right before you are about to talk and definitely end a relationship with someone, they say: "Here is your belated birthday gift... and presents for Christmas." Is it considered polite etiquette to refuse said gifts on the grounds that you know that you are going to end that relationship and do not want them because of politeness?

It would be if you were breaking up with the person then why would you want something from them?
Very iffy. In most cases accept the gifts. If they turn out to be too valuable, return after break-up.
accept it and if you dont want it after the breakup get rid of it. My boyfriend broke up with me and brought back a camera i bought him – it was like a slap in the face, worse than actually breaking up with me.
Don’t worry, dint show them that you are said,accept gifts with smile, thanks them, and dint look on them,be
courageous, it is life, any incident can happen.
